LEEDS: Pakistan Test collapse left England in control after the visitors were bowled out for 171 on day one of the first Test at Headingley on August 19.
England closed on 112-2, trailing by 59 runs with eight wickets remaining. Pakistan lost Azan Awais on the first ball of the series before slipping to 6-2 inside five overs.
Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique then rebuilt the innings with a 91-run partnership. Pakistan reached 97-2 before another collapse began.
Imam fell to Josh Tongue, while Saud Shakeel was dismissed leg-before after failing to review in time. Shafique departed soon afterwards following his half-century.
Pakistan lost their last five wickets for 21 runs and failed to reach 200 in a first Test innings for the first time this decade, according to the supplied report. Ollie Robinson and Tongue took five wickets each for England.

Since the start of 2025, Pakistan have not added 100 runs after losing their fifth wicket across 16 consecutive Test innings.
