LEEDS: England won the toss and chose to bowl first in the England vs Pakistan Test at Headingley on Wednesday, before Ollie Robinson struck twice early.
Robinson removed debutant Azan Awais with the first ball of the match. He then trapped Shan Masood lbw for five, leaving Pakistan 6-2.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha led the visitors after Babar Azam missed the Test with a hand injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board said Salman became the country’s 36th Test captain.
Joe Root returned as England captain for the three-match series. England selected a four-man pace attack of Robinson, Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue.
Pakistan’s XI included Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman. Ali Usman, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Abbas completed the side.

The first Test runs from August 19 to 23 at Headingley. Play began at 11 am local time, or 3 pm Pakistan Standard Time.
The second Test starts at Lord’s on August 27. The final match begins at Edgbaston on September 9.
