Ricky Gervais’ “Alley Cats” will premiere globally on Netflix on August 7, with the newly released trailer introducing a group of feral British cats navigating survival and everyday life.
The six-part adult animated comedy follows the cats as they cause trouble, seek companionship and discuss subjects including life, love and death in an unforgiving human world.
Gervais voices Gus and leads a cast featuring Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way.
The programme uses a two-dimensional animation style developed by Blink Industries. Netflix describes the series as combining absurd comedy with the warmth and social commentary associated with Gervais’ previous work.

Gervais also presented a masterclass about the series at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where Netflix offered attendees a preview of its first two episodes.
The comedian said he was especially excited about the trailer and eager for audiences to meet the programme’s feline characters.
