WASHINGTON, United States: Houthi US intervention became a fresh regional issue after President Donald Trump said the Yemeni group had contacted Washington and asked America not to enter the conflict.
Trump made the claim after Houthi forces advanced along Yemen’s Red Sea coast. The group had gained control of the country’s Red Sea coastline.
According to Trump, Houthi officials directly contacted Washington and requested US non-intervention. However, no independent Houthi statement confirms that communication.

Regional tensions have also affected energy infrastructure. Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its East-West oil pipeline after a drone attack.

The attack originated from Iraqi territory. Saudi authorities chose not to launch an immediate military response.
Instead, Riyadh gave the Iraqi government time to investigate. Saudi Arabia also wants Baghdad to take steps aimed at preventing further cross-border attacks.

The developments add another element to the debate over possible Houthi US intervention as governments respond to rapidly changing security conditions around Yemen and the Red Sea. Diplomatic activity is continuing alongside the military developments.
Iran is scheduled to meet Gulf Arab states in Oman on Monday. The talks will focus on commercial shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and wider regional stability.
The meeting comes as regional governments confront security concerns around major maritime routes. It also does not establish that Washington has formally ruled out future action against the Houthis.
For now, Trump has said the Houthis asked the United States to stay out. Meanwhile, Yemeni government forces continue operations against Houthi positions on the western coast.
