DALLAS, United States: President Donald Trump cut off ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott during questions about his proposed $5,000 payments, telling her, “Not you. Not you. You’re the worst.”
The Trump-Rachel Scott clash occurred Thursday night on an airport tarmac as the president prepared to leave Dallas after the Republican Midterm Convention.
Scott had asked why Trump needed to offer Americans a financial incentive if his economic policies were working, citing the roughly $40 trillion national debt.
Trump rejected the premise that the proposed payment was intended to boost voter turnout. He said it would be a “reward” for Americans after the Biden administration.

ABC News separately reported that Trump has proposed a $5,000 dividend for adult Americans if Republicans retain control of Congress.
When Scott attempted to follow up about previously proposed tariff refund checks, Trump interrupted her and dismissed further questions.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales defended the president’s approach, telling Newsweek that Trump calls out reporters he considers biased regardless of whether they are male or female.
