Pakistan’s airspace ban on Indian flights has been extended until 4:59 am Pakistan Standard Time on September 24, 2026, the Pakistan Airports Authority said in a new Notice to Airmen.
The NOTAM, effective from August 18, applies to aircraft registered in India, Indian airlines, India-leased aircraft, and commercial or military aircraft owned or operated by Indian nationals.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) first imposed the restriction on April 23, 2025. The latest notice is the 16th extension of the airspace closure.
Pakistan introduced the ban after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of involvement, while Islamabad denied the allegation and called for an independent investigation.

India subsequently closed its airspace to Pakistani airlines on April 30, 2025.
Tensions escalated further in May 2025 after Indian strikes on Pakistani cities. Pakistan responded with Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, targeting Indian military installations, according to Pakistani authorities.
Pakistan claimed it shot down eight Indian fighter aircraft, including three Rafales, during the confrontation. The fighting lasted about 87 hours before the two countries agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10, 2025. The latest PAA notification keeps the aviation restriction in force for more than another month.
