ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL; PSX: OGDC) has announced the Bobi-11 discovery, stating that the Sindh well is expected to produce about 1,000 barrels of oil per day.
The company said Bobi-11 is also expected to yield 1.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas. OGDCL owns a 100% interest in the Bobi Oil Field, according to the company statement on September 4.
OGDCL said geological and technical data obtained from its earlier Bobi Deep-1 well helped in drilling and evaluating Bobi-11. The latest result has strengthened the company’s assessment of the area’s further hydrocarbon potential.
Bobi Deep-1, located in Sanghar district, Sindh, was announced as an oil discovery on June 3. In its regulatory disclosure to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, OGDCL said the exploratory well tested at 2,000 barrels of oil per day and 1.1 MMSCFD of gas from the Massive Sand interval of the Lower Goru Formation.
The June discovery established the first hydrocarbon find from the Massive Sand play within the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease. OGDCL said at the time that the result had reduced exploration risk for similar prospects in the surrounding area.
