BERLIN, Germany: Hungary beat Japan 84-63, and Germany routed Korea 94-56 in FIBA Women’s World Cup qualification games Tuesday to move into the quarterfinals.
The results set up Thursday matchups featuring the United States against Hungary and Belgium against Germany at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Two quarterfinal places remain undecided. Puerto Rico faces China at 11:45 a.m. ET on Wednesday, followed by Italy against Australia at 2:45 p.m. ET.
The winner of Puerto Rico-China will face France on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The winner of Italy-Australia will meet Spain at 2:45 p.m. ET.
The United States reached the knockout stage after completing Group D play with a 105-64 win over Czechia on September 7. Team USA had earlier beaten China 94-61 and Italy 55-52.
Belgium also advanced after beating Australia 80-68 in Group C. France finished its Group B schedule with a 111-56 victory over Nigeria.

The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, September 12. The third-place game and championship final will take place Sunday, September 13. In the United States, the schedule says games are available on TNT, truTV and HBO Max.
