Khawaja Asif Rawalakot’s remarks drew criticism from Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the National Assembly.
The debate focused on protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir over 12 reserved refugee seats in the region’s Legislative Assembly.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had made remarks that did not suit his office. He urged the government to show patience. He also said officials should not use force against protesters over speeches.
