KARACHI, Sindh: A police DHA assault inquiry has found a lapse of supervision and control by Korangi Senior Superintendent of Police Fida Hussain Janwari. Therefore, it recommended that his conduct be examined under disciplinary rules.
The inquiry concerned an August 21 altercation at an apartment building in Defence Housing Authority Phase 6. CCTV footage showed a woman being assaulted while police personnel were present. The inquiry report was submitted by South Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza to the Additional Inspector General Karachi.
Investigators found that allegations contained in the FIR registered against Noor-ul-Ain, her brother and their family were not substantiated by the evidence. As a result, the report recommended disposing of that case in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, other reports said B-class disposal was proposed.

It also recommended action against police officials present during the confrontation. Investigators reviewed CCTV and mobile-phone footage, departmental records and statements from 13 people.
Constables Saqib, Haider Sultan, Taimoor Ahmed and Amir Sohail were recommended for departmental action. The report said Taimoor allegedly damaged a CCTV camera while Amir handed him his weapon. In addition, it accused Saqib and Haider of failing to intervene impartially.

The report also criticised Darakhshan Station House Officer Rashid Ali, Assistant Sub-Inspector Aftab Mangi and investigating officer Imran. It recommended departmental proceedings over their handling of the case.
The inquiry did not find that Janwari personally ordered the deployment of the Korangi police personnel to the apartment. Nevertheless, it found a supervisory lapse and recommended further examination of his conduct under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
