KARACHI, Sindh: Five police personnel have been identified in the Karachi DHA assault inquiry after CCTV footage showed an altercation involving a woman, her neighbours and police in Khayaban-e-Bukhari.
Two officers seen in the footage were identified as Haider and Saqib, both posted in Korangi District, according to police officials. Their statements were recorded before they appeared before the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South.
Three Darakhshan Police Station personnel, Assistant Sub-Inspector Aftab Mangi, Safdar and driver Yousuf, were also summoned for questioning. Police said they were among the officials involved in taking a man from the scene.
Maryam Raza allegedly assaulted neighbours with assistance from police personnel, after which members of the affected family were arrested and booked in a theft case. The allegations remain subject to the ongoing inquiry.

— Ali Tahir (@AliTahirArain) August 28, 2026Police officials said Darakhshan personnel responded after an emergency call to Madadgar-15. They claimed the man resisted arrest and had to be dragged towards a police vehicle.
Other officers seen entering the building were identified as Madadgar-15 personnel. Investigators said those officials had not yet cooperated fully despite being asked twice to appear and record statements.

Karachi Additional Inspector General Azad Khan ordered DIG South to conduct an impartial inquiry and submit a report within three days.
The affected family and the women accused of assaulting them were also summoned but did not appear before investigators. DIG South said the inquiry would be completed and its findings sent to the Karachi police chief.
