NABATIEH, Lebanon: An IDF drone strike wounded Al-Manar correspondent Ali Shabib and cameraman Mohammed Barjawi near Nabatieh moments before they were due to deliver a television report.

Video captured the strike hitting close to the crew and abruptly cutting off the recording. Al-Manar said both men suffered light injuries while preparing for its main news broadcast.

The network said Shabib and Barjawi received treatment at Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital. Officials said both remained in stable condition and expected them to return to work soon.

It has also been reported that Shabib suffered a shrapnel wound to his leg. Shabib had gained a more prominent role in Al-Manar’s coverage after an Israeli strike killed senior correspondent Ali Shuaib in March.

The Israel Defence Forces accused Shuaib at the time of serving in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force while working as a journalist.

IDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin alleged that Shuaib tracked Israeli military positions and maintained contacts with Hezbollah members.

Hezbollah-affiliated newspaper Al-Akhbar accused Israel of deliberately targeting media workers. It said the strike occurred during a broader series of Israeli attacks around Nabatieh.

The incident came amid renewed fighting in southern Lebanon. The IDF said it had struck Hezbollah command posts, weapons storage sites and operatives after recent drone launches and exchanges of fire involving Israeli troops.
