The Trump Iran agreement drew sharp US media criticism after outlets said it gave Tehran major concessions without meeting Washington’s pre-war objectives.
President Donald Trump signed the memorandum of understanding on Wednesday outside Paris. The agreement aims to end the war that has hit the Middle East and global markets.
MS NOW said the White House accepted a ceasefire extension that failed to meet any of its pre-war objectives. The network said the deal gave Iran major financial concessions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, who mediated the agreement, said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the United States would lift its naval blockade.
Washington also committed to waive oil sanctions on Iran. Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif said the memorandum had been signed electronically and endorsed by Pakistan as mediator.
The Wall Street Journal called the agreement a major foreign-policy test for Trump’s second term. It said Iran policy hawks believed Washington was giving up more than it received.
Fox News critics who said the agreement gave Iran large financial benefits without requiring the dismantlement of its nuclear programme.

The agreement is temporary and is meant to start detailed talks on long-term control of Iran’s nuclear programme.
The United States would help release a $300 billion regional reconstruction fund once a final nuclear agreement is reached.
