PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A new KP complaints system will assign each public grievance a tracking number. It will also require government departments to appoint focal persons to monitor and resolve complaints.
Under instructions issued by the provincial Relief Department, citizens may submit complaints about government services and administrative matters through designated email and WhatsApp channels. Each complaint will receive a unique diary number. They will also receive an acknowledgement receipt.
Complaints alleging corruption, bribery or abuse of authority will receive enhanced scrutiny, according to the government communique. Serious fraud and corruption allegations cannot be routinely closed without examination of the available evidence.
Investigators may examine government, financial and electronic records to verify allegations. A report containing findings and recommendations will be prepared on each complaint based on supporting evidence, facts and records.

The mechanism also requires authorities to protect complainants’ identities and sensitive information. The communique said disclosure of a complainant’s identity or leakage of confidential material will be treated as official misconduct.
Where corruption or other irregularities are established, the case may proceed to legal action. However, complaints involving serious allegations must be referred promptly to the competent authority.
The mechanism supplements existing provincial grievance channels. The Chief Minister’s Secretariat said on September 10 that its separate complaint cell had reviewed thousands of cases received between January and August 2026. Meanwhile, KP also operates digital citizen-complaint platforms.
