Islamabad: Pakistan’s monsoon spell is likely to begin in parts of the country from July 1, starting from northeastern Punjab and Kashmir, the Meteorological Department said.
Pakistan Meteorological Department spokesperson Anjum Nazir said rain may occur in northern areas and northeastern Punjab from July 1.
He said monsoon conditions were not currently developing in Sindh. He added that the province had no chance of rain until July 5.

However, he said overall rainfall in Sindh, including Karachi, was expected to remain below normal during the monsoon season.
The PMD’s seasonal outlook also forecasts below-normal rainfall in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan from July to September.
The outlook said Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could receive normal to slightly above-normal rainfall. Nazir also said India received 43 per cent less rain than normal during June.
