ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister Dr Uzma Khan filed a second Imran Khan contempt petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday. She alleged non-compliance with its August 18 order on medical treatment and family meetings.

Dr Uzma alleged that the authorities had not allowed Imran to meet his family members despite the court’s directions. In addition, they had not provided him with facilities to speak to his sons by telephone.

The petition states that Dr Uzma, Aleema Khan and Qasim Zaman have been prevented from meeting the jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder.

Dr Uzma also submitted additional documents and two miscellaneous applications seeking to place further material on the court record.

The Supreme Court had directed authorities on August 18 to transfer Imran from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination, according to the petition.

Dr Uzma filed her first contempt petition on August 25 after authorities instead took Imran to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for examination. Furthermore, the Supreme Court rejected her request for an early hearing of that petition two days before the latest filing.

Separately, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered jail authorities a day earlier not to keep Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement. This decision came while disposing of petitions challenging their alleged isolation.

Justice Khadim Hussain Somroo announced the decision on petitions filed by Aleema Khanum on Imran’s behalf. Moreover, Mubashra Khawar Maneka filed a petition on behalf of Bushra Bibi.
