NAB said an initial inspection in 2025 found no formal transfer record for nearly 2.8 million acres of Forest Department land. As a result, it said the finding prompted a large-scale operation against the illegal occupation of state land.
The bureau said more than 1 million acres of government land, valued at about Rs1.37 trillion, had been recovered in 2025. Moreover, it is called the campaign, one of the largest land recovery operations in Pakistan’s history.
NAB credited the Government of Balochistan, the Senior Member Board of Revenue and the Forest and Wildlife Department for supporting the operation. It said the recovered land is being formally handed over to the Forest and Wildlife Department.
Authorities are working on digital land records, modern record-keeping and stronger monitoring to prevent future encroachments. NAB said the digitalisation of Gwadar land records has entered its final stages.
