The National Accountability Bureau handed over more than Rs6 billion in assets from the Kohistan corruption case to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Peshawar on Tuesday.
NAB Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmed transferred the recovered assets to KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah during a ceremony.
According to NAB, the first-phase transfer included cash, gold, valuable properties and luxury vehicles recovered during the investigation.
The bureau said the recovery followed a comprehensive and systematic probe into the Kohistan financial corruption case. The scandal allegedly involved the embezzlement of more than Rs37 billion in public funds.
As part of the investigation, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted forensic and financial examinations of more than 1,500 bank accounts.

He added that additional recovered assets would be transferred to the KP government after completion of legal procedures.
“Public resources are a national trust, and every possible measure will be taken to safeguard them,” Ahmed said.
