The live-action Call of Duty movie will unite director Peter Berg and writer Taylor Sheridan for a Paramount Pictures and Activision production scheduled for theatrical release in 2028.
Berg will direct and co-write the screenplay with Sheridan, according to the Associated Press. Both filmmakers will also serve as producers on the military-action adaptation.
The film is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on June 30, 2028, according to recent entertainment industry reports. Paramount will distribute the project, which is being developed with Activision, Film 44 and Bosque Ranch Productions.
Berg and Sheridan previously collaborated on “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River.” Berg’s directing credits include “Lone Survivor” and “Patriots Day,” while Sheridan created the television drama “Yellowstone.”
The film would adapt the “Modern Warfare” storyline and feature characters such as Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley and John “Soap” MacTavish. However, Paramount and Activision have not publicly confirmed the plot, timeline or characters.
No cast has been announced. Production dates and filming locations also remain undisclosed.

The “Call of Duty” franchise launched in 2003 and has since expanded across historical and modern military settings. The film joins a growing list of video game adaptations being developed for cinemas and streaming platforms.
