A female member of the Sindh Assembly belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement announced yesterday that she is quitting the assembly membership as well as the party.
Irum Azeem Farooque used Twitter to announce her decision, saying she could not work with “opportunist people who are destroying my party”.
“Just to let everyone know that I have finally resigned from my post and also leaving the party for good,” she tweeted.
However, Ms Farooque said that she would remain loyal to MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
“Seat was not my priority, respect was..Bhai gave me all the respect, I love this party but can’t take the stress anymore,” read another tweet.
Ms Farooque was elected on a reserved seat for women after the May 2013 general elections. She headed the public relations wing of the MQM for years.
