GUANGZHOU, China: The China AI token economy is expanding into banking and telecom services as companies package tokens into credit-card rewards, monthly plans and business-lending assessments.
Moonshot AI’s Kimi and Agricultural Bank of China have launched what Kimi describes as an AI-native credit card for mainland China.
First-time applicants who spend 5,888 yuan within three months can receive a promotional gift and two months of premium membership, with the campaign limited to 1,000 people.
China Telecom began trialling token packages on May 17 for developers, small businesses and households. The consumer entry plan is 9.9 yuan per month for 10 million tokens.
Individual customers receive access to China Telecom’s Xingchen model and DeepSeek V3.2, while developer packages also include GLM5.

The carrier also plans a Tianyi Token system that would let customers redeem loyalty points for token packages through its TokenHub platform.
Guangzhou’s Haizhu district introduced a Token Loan programme in August. Under the scheme, banks can consider token consumption, platform qualifications and payment-collection progress when assessing young AI companies.
Bank of China’s Guangzhou branch can set lending limits using a company’s contract or token usage. Haizhu also offers subsidies of up to 2 million yuan per year toward companies’ token costs and up to 1.5 million yuan to improve token output per chip.

Research across 25 European languages cited in the material found token usage varies sharply by language. English averaged 1.23 tokens per word, compared with about 3.1 in Greek and Maltese, meaning identical token bundles can deliver substantially different amounts of text processing.
