Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday said officials of security agencies cannot be included in the judicial commission formed to probe alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.
He was addressing a news conference in Islamabad today along with Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid and Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid.
Dar said that as per the Constitution, a judicial commission only comprises judges and the government will not do anything in violation of the Constitution.
He said nominating members of a judicial commission is the right of the chief justice, adding that even the government cannot propose the names.
Earlier, PTI chairman Imran Khan on Sunday withdrew his demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation while putting forth a fresh demand to form an inquiry commission comprising members of judiciary and spy agencies Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Addressing the rally in Rahim Yar Khan, PTI chairman demanded that the commission be made by November 30 and that the commission should complete its investigation of the alleged rigging in general elections 2013 in four to six weeks.
