LOS ANGELES, United States: The Creative Arts Emmys 2026 opened with multiple wins for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” “The Muppet Show,” Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show and Mariska Hargitay’s documentary.
Saturday’s ceremony at the Peacock Theatre honoured variety, reality and documentary programming ahead of the Primetime Emmys on September 14. More than 100 awards are scheduled across the two-day Creative Arts event.
“The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” won directing for a variety series for its series finale. The CBS program also took honours in lighting, technical direction, segment editing and writing for a variety series.
“The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny” won the outstanding variety special (live) honour, along with directing, choreography, music direction, lighting and sound mixing honours.

Actor Mariska Hargitay won two Emmys for HBO Max documentary “My Mom Jayne: A Film By Mariska Hargitay.” She won for directing a documentary/nonfiction program and outstanding documentary or nonfiction special.
Alan Cumming won Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program for Peacock’s “The Traitors,” while Octavia Spencer earned her first Emmy for narrating “Lost Women of Alaska.”

“The Muppet Show” won Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Production Design and Writing for a Variety Special.
“Love on the Spectrum” also won awards, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. Night two will feature guest acting categories and several limited-series awards.
