The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 retake for Islamabad-based candidates has been rescheduled. Following the Islamabad High Court’s directive, the re-registration process has been completed, with 17,597 candidates signing up, marking a significant decrease from the initial 53,105 registrants.
In October, the IHC invalidated the original MDCAT 2024 results and mandated a retake because the exam was out of the syllabus, as identified by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). The court tasked Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University with organizing the retest within a month.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the Islamabad High Court emphasized the need for immediate compliance with the court’s ruling, specifically instructing that the retake should cater only to the candidates from Islamabad.
This judicial intervention aims to ensure the fairness and relevance of the testing process, impacting thousands of prospective medical students. The university is now tasked with conducting these exams promptly to prevent further delay in the academic schedules of the affected candidates.
