KARACHI, Sindh: A Karachi SHO fake plate case led to the suspension of Yousuf Plaza Station House Officer Waqar Awan after Safe City cameras flagged his vehicle near Artillery Maidan.
Police said the vehicle was stopped within the jurisdiction of Artillery Maidan Police Station after the camera system detected the allegedly fake registration plate on September 10.
According to local news channel ARY News, Awan was taken to the police station before being handed over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC), which began an investigation into the vehicle and registration plate, according to police.

Central District Police subsequently removed Awan from his post as SHO and suspended him. Police officials said they would also initiate departmental proceedings.
The AVLC investigation was continuing, and police had not announced the outcome of the inquiry or any criminal charge against Awan at the time of reporting.
