ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cyber fraud cases involving 227,757 complainants resulted in reported losses of about PKR 8.32 billion over three years.
According to Pakistani media, the records showed 83,080 complaints in 2024, 76,646 in 2025 and 68,031 in 2026, taking the three-year total to 227,757.
Serving and former lawmakers were also among those targeted. Former lawmaker Sahibzada Hamid Raza reported losing PKR 490,000, while Senator Falak Naz Chitrali lost PKR 485,000 and Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan Mandokhail lost PKR 403,500, the documents showed.
Senator Niaz Ahmed reported a PKR 30,000 loss, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawmaker Shehla Bano lost PKR 370,800. Six lawmakers whose losses were specified in the records collectively lost about PKR 2.749 million.

— PTA (@PTAofficialpk) August 20, 2026The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency recovered more than PKR 918,000 in three cases involving Chitrali, Mandokhail and Niaz Ahmed, according to the reported documents.
The Senate Standing Committee on Interior had previously raised concerns about cyber fraud targeting parliamentarians. In November 2025, senators told the committee that organised scammers had impersonated officials and used detailed personal information to deceive victims.
NCCIA said in the latest report that many smaller losses remain unreported, particularly cases involving amounts between PKR 2,000 and PKR 20,000.
