CUPERTINO, California: Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone on September 9. Reports point to a starting price of roughly $2,000. The release is also expected in October.
The device, reportedly named iPhone Duo, is expected to use a book-style design. It will feature an approximately 5.5-inch outer display and 7.8-inch folding inner screen. Reports also point to 256GB starting storage, an A20 Pro chip and Apple’s C2 modem.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and The Verge reported that the 256GB model will start at about $2,000. However, higher-capacity versions may reach roughly $3,000. The device could begin shipping as early as October.
Apple has not confirmed the foldable’s name, specifications or price. The company has only announced that its “Surprise and shine” event will begin at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on September 9 at 10 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time and will stream through Apple.com, Apple TV and YouTube Live.
The company is also expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports point to an A20 Pro processor and a smaller Dynamic Island. There may also be a possible variable-aperture main camera. However, the standard iPhone 18 is expected later, not at Wednesday’s launch.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are also expected, while new AirPods hardware could appear. Apple has not confirmed any of those products ahead of the keynote.

The event will be Apple’s first major hardware launch under Chief Executive John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook on September 1. Cook is now Apple’s executive chairman.
