KYIV, Ukraine: Russia strikes Kyiv, killing two people and injuring at least eight others on September 11 as drones hit a residential building, gas stations and other sites, Ukrainian officials said.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people later died in hospital. Eight others were injured, including an employee of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

A nine-storey apartment building in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district caught fire after an attack. Flames affected its facade from the first through fifth floors and an apartment on the second floor, officials said.

A warehouse in the Obolonskyi district also caught fire, while gas stations in both Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi were struck.

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 161 attack drones overnight and that Ukrainian forces shot down 138. It also reported the use of S8000 “Banderol” missile drones.

In Dnipro, two people were injured after trucks caught fire at a private enterprise. Another person was injured in the Nikopol district, according to regional officials.

Russia’s Defence Ministry separately claimed its strikes damaged logistics, data-centre, and industrial targets in several Ukrainian regions.
