In a Sandra Bullock interview published September 8, the actor recalled refusing auditions in New York that involved inappropriate requests while she was working as a waitress and trying to establish her career.
Speaking with longtime friend Jennifer Aniston for Interview magazine, Bullock said some auditions asked her to undress. She recalled deciding, “Nope, not the role for me,” rather than accept work that crossed her boundaries.
Bullock said her other major intentional career decision came when she stopped pursuing romantic comedies after facing criticism for repeatedly appearing in the genre. She instead took a dramatic role in “Crash,” which later won Best Picture at the 2006 Academy Awards.
The 62-year-old actor is now back in cinemas with Warner Bros.’ “Practical Magic 2,” reuniting with Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens. The sequel, directed by Susanne Bier, marks Bullock’s first film appearance since “The Lost City” in 2022.

“Practical Magic 2” opened in North America on September 11 and earned about $13 million on Friday, including previews, putting it on course for a domestic opening weekend of roughly $30 million.
