ZAGREB: JANAF OFAC licence was extended until July 31, 2026, allowing the Croatian pipeline operator to continue crude oil supplies to Serbia’s NIS.
JANAF Plc secured the extension with support from the Croatian government, according to the company statement.
The extension covers supplies to Naphtha Industrial Srbije, Serbia’s oil company. The license is being issued amid NIS’s restructuring of ownership linked to U.S. sanctions.
The U.S. Treasury added NIS and its majority shareholder, Gazprom Neft, to its sanctions list in January 2025. The sanctions took effect on October 9, 2025, after several postponements.
Gazprom and Hungary’s MOL signed a memorandum of understanding on January 19 for the sale of a stake in NIS.

Serbian authorities said the state plans to raise its NIS holding by 5%, giving Belgrade greater influence over shareholder decisions.
MOL is also in talks with ADNOC, the United Arab Emirates’ state-owned oil company, to join NIS as a minority shareholder.
