ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Economic Coordination Committee approved Rs6.6 billion for 30 SCO bullet-proof vehicles for heads of state attending Pakistan’s September 2027 summit, against a Rs12.6 billion funding request.
The Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) was approved at an ECC meeting chaired by Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division on September 7.
The Cabinet Division sought Rs12.6 billion to purchase bulletproof vehicles to transport visiting heads of state during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. After deliberations, the ECC approved Rs6.6 billion for 30 vehicles.

The committee directed the Cabinet Division to conduct an in-depth needs assessment before seeking funding for any additional vehicles and to return to the ECC if a further requirement is established.
Pakistan formally assumed the SCO chairmanship for 2026–27 following the September 1 Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Pakistan will host the next SCO Council of Heads of State Summit in Islamabad in 2027.
