Jacobabad, Sindh: The Sindh government sought a report and ordered action after houses in a village were set on fire over a couple’s freewill marriage, official spokesperson Saadia Javed said.
Javed said the Sindh Chief Minister took notice of the Jacobabad arson incident and the provincial government acted on the first day.
The spokesperson said the incident followed a girl’s freewill marriage. Her family later lodged a first information report alleging kidnapping.

Javed said the girl remained safe and in government custody, while the case was before the court.
The Sindh government also plans to redress damage to the affected houses, according to the spokesperson. She said authorities had yet to determine how many houses the attackers torched.
The government directed officials to identify and act against those involved in the arson.
A video linked to the dispute later circulated online. In the clip, Saddam Hussain allegedly admitted setting fire to houses belonging to Sardar Ahmed Ali Channa.
A rival Sardar claimed that Saddam Hussain Buriro attacked the village with about 500 people.
