President Joe Biden‘s verbal slip has reignited age-related concerns. Despite this, he has confirmed his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.
Biden mistakenly said he would defeat Donald Trump in the “upcoming 2020 election” again during a speech on Friday. This error occurred as he discussed this year’s November elections.
On July 4, the 81-year-old Biden called himself the “first black woman to serve with a black president.” Following a heated debate with Donald Trump, the blunder has raised questions within the Democratic Party about his fitness for a second term.
Nevertheless, Biden firmly stated his intention to remain in the 2024 race. “Let me say this as clearly as I can: I’m staying in the race,” Biden declared. “I’ll beat Donald Trump. We’re going to do it again in 2024. Yeah, I learned long ago that when you get knocked down, you get back up.”
Responding to comments on his age, he added, “You probably also noticed a lot of discussion about my age. I know I look 40. I keep seeing stories about me being too old. Let me say something…I wasn’t too old to create over 15 million new jobs.”
Moreover, CNN reports that some Democrats are considering shifting their support to Vice President Kamala Harris.
