ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari called for greater awareness of banking fraud to help customers protect themselves and access the services of the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan.
He issued the directive during a meeting with Banking Mohtasib Pakistan Sirajuddin Aziz at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where Aziz presented the Annual Report 2025.
President Zardari said limited knowledge of digital banking can leave customers vulnerable to fraud.
He also asked the institution to improve access to justice for women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and low-income communities.
The president was told that the Banking Mohtasib received 35,130 complaints in 2025. Another 13,793 cases were carried forward from the previous year.

Of 48,923 complaints in hand, the institution disposed of 36,280 cases. Customers received Rs 1,879.766 million in relief, according to the briefing.
From January 1 to June 30, 2026, the Mohtasib received 21,392 new complaints. The comparable figure for the same period last year was 16,915. During the first half of 2026, it disposed of 18,482 complaints and provided Rs 762.76 million in monetary relief.
