Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said most victims died from smoke inhalation. Thai authorities ordered the pub closed for 30 days while investigators examined safety standards and electrical systems.
The Guardian reported that police were treating negligence as the primary theory. It said investigators were examining reports of obstructed or locked exits, flammable materials and inadequate escape routes.
