TEHRAN, Iran: An IRGC statement claimed Saturday that foreign media recognised President Donald Trump’s defeat in the Iran war.

However, it named no outlets. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued the statement for Iran’s National Journalists’ Day on August 8.

Mehr News Agency said the Guard accused the United States and Israel of missing their declared war objectives.

The IRGC described the conflict as a strategic deadlock that exposed Western divisions and the decline of American influence.

It is also called the recent understandings, an “American surrender document” reflecting Iran’s battlefield position and negotiating power.

The Strait of Hormuz will only reopen if the United States fully accepts Iran's conditions, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi said on Saturday, adding that the issue was separate from negotiations between Tehran and Oman.

However, English accounts published by Mehr, Tasnim and Pars Today identified neither the cited foreign outlets nor the relevant agreements.

The Guard credited Iranian “revolutionary media” with countering hostile narratives and preserving national unity. It also accused adversaries of using hybrid warfare, cyber operations and artificial intelligence to divide Iranian society.

Tasnim reported that the statement praised journalists who continued working during the conflict. Separately, Associated Press reporting showed negotiations over a Strait of Hormuz shipping route remained unresolved this week.

Iran said an Oman-mediated draft was close, while Washington opposed Iranian control, permits and transit fees.

Therefore, current diplomacy does not independently substantiate the IRGC’s description of an American surrender. Iran observes National Journalists’ Day on the anniversary of reporter Mahmoud Saremi’s killing in Afghanistan in 1998.
