KARACHI, Sindh: A court accepted a police challan replacing the murder charge against alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky with qatl-bis-sabab in the death of an unidentified man.

The investigating officer submitted the final charge sheet before a judicial magistrate in District South. Police recommended removing Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and applying Section 322.

Police based the change on a chemical examination report from the University of Karachi. According to the charge sheet, the report attributed the man’s death to drug intoxication rather than an intentional killing.

Baghdadi Police initially registered the case after finding the unidentified man’s body on a footpath. Investigators alleged that a small box carrying Anmol’s name was recovered from his pocket. The man had not been identified at the time of the court proceedings.

Section 321 of the Pakistan Penal Code defines qatl-bis-sabab as causing death through an unlawful act without intending to cause death or harm. Section 322 states that a person convicted of the offence is liable to pay diyat.

Anmol was arrested in Karachi in May in cases involving alleged narcotics possession and an unlicensed weapon. She has denied allegations in earlier proceedings, while the cases against her remain before the courts.
