US and Iranian negotiators reached a tentative plan to extend their truce for 60 days and reopen Strait of Hormuz talks, US officials said Thursday in Washington.
President Donald Trump has not approved the memorandum, and Tehran has not commented publicly.
Vice President JD Vance said both sides still disagree over “a couple of language points.”
Vance said negotiators continue to discuss Iran’s nuclear program, including enriched uranium and enrichment limits.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the deal depends on Trump’s decision. He also said Oman assured Washington that it would not toll the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command said Iran fired a ballistic missile toward Kuwait late Wednesday and US forces intercepted it.
