Pakistani actor and artist Naimal Khawar criticised comments about her body online after a social-media post speculated about changes in her appearance and whether she was pregnant.
Khawar responded in an Instagram Story shared on Saturday after resharing a post that described her as looking “unrecognisable” at a wedding and speculated about her weight.
She said weight can fluctuate and that women’s bodies naturally change because of age, hormones, stress, health, lifestyle and motherhood.
“None of these things is an invitation for public commentary,” Khawar wrote, adding that women do not owe anyone the same body they had years or even months earlier.

Khawar, who is married to actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, gave birth to a son in 2020. She has previously spoken publicly about experiencing postpartum blues and said the period affected her ability to paint for three years.
Her latest comments focused on the scrutiny women face over changes in their appearance and rejected the idea that being in the public eye makes such personal speculation acceptable.
