The United Arab Emirates denied reports on Saturday that it transferred or facilitated UAE-Iran funds. The MoFA’s statement said no frozen Iranian money had been released through the country.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said allegations involving the transfer of funds to Iran, including claims concerning $3 billion, were “entirely false and unfounded.” Moreover, it said no frozen Iranian funds had been released, transferred or facilitated through the UAE.
Reuters had reported that the UAE had agreed to unlock billions of dollars for Iran as part of a de-escalation effort. This was during talks involving Tehran and Washington.
Two regional sources claim the amount is $10 billion, while two other sources say a possible $20 billion arrangement.
The ministry called on media outlets to rely on official sources and avoid circulating unverified allegations. Its statement did not provide further details on the reported arrangement.
A UAE official quoted by Reuters before the denial said Abu Dhabi’s foreign policy was guided by de-escalation and regional stability.
Reuters said the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, while Iranian authorities also had no immediate response.

The claim emerged as diplomats discussed possible steps to end the US-Iran conflict. These steps included the potential release of frozen Iranian oil revenues held in foreign banks under US sanctions, Reuters reported.
