MOSCOW, Russia: Russia warns UK military targets could face retaliatory strikes over Ukraine’s use of British-supplied weapons. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said this Thursday.
Zakharova said Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow cruise missiles demonstrated what Moscow considers direct British involvement in the conflict.
She said Russia viewed British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and elsewhere as potential targets in response.
That position represents Moscow’s interpretation of the conflict and does not constitute an independently established legal finding.
Zakharova also accused the United Kingdom, France and Germany of direct participation in attacks carried out by Ukraine on Russian territory.
She warned that foreign troops deployed in Ukraine and involved in operations obstructing Russian military objectives would be treated by Moscow as military targets.
The spokeswoman also criticised Finnish President Alexander Stubb over his support for Ukrainian strikes inside Russia. She warned that Moscow would respond to actions it considered hostile.

Zakharova separately said Russia had received no new proposals from Ukraine or its Western partners. These proposals would be for negotiations on ending the conflict.
She also said former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family were admitted to Russia on humanitarian grounds after the change of power in Syria.
