Kuwait City, Kuwait: Iran struck Kuwait International Airport radar facilities Thursday morning, injuring people and forcing a temporary airspace closure, Kuwaiti aviation authorities said.
Kuwait’s civil aviation body told the International Civil Aviation Organisation that the airport radar was targeted. It said the attack damaged radar facilities, equipment and air traffic management systems.
Kuwait later reopened its airspace to commercial traffic after the brief shutdown. The country’s military had earlier said air defences were engaging “hostile aerial targets” after fresh United States attacks against Iran.
The latest strike marked the second Iranian attack on Kuwait’s only international airport in just over a week. Authorities said a June 3 drone strike killed an Indian national and injured 63 people.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it called “continued sinful and repeated Iranian attacks.” Tehran had accused Kuwait and Bahrain of allowing the United States to use their territory for attacks on Iranian targets.

Iran said it targeted the US Navy’s Middle East headquarters in Bahrain and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. It did not mention the airport.
Kuwait has denied Iran’s accusations and demanded that two Iranian embassy staff leave the country.
