Tehran, Iran: An Iran-US deal moved toward a final approval stag after talks between Iranian officials and Qatari mediators resolved key gaps, Axios reported.
Iran’s frozen assets, arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz during a 60-day ceasefire and the format of nuclear negotiations.
Sources said Iranian officials told several countries Thursday that the talks had reached an agreement in principle. They said final approval was still needed from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Al Arabiya reported that efforts to reach an interim deal had intensified. The talks included Iranian funds and US-Iran arrangements. The outlet also reported earlier on a preliminary memorandum covering the Strait of Hormuz and blockade measures.
Qatar’s Emiri Diwan said Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Donald Trump discussed progress in the understandings reached between Washington and Tehran, Anadolu reported. The statement said Trump told the emir that work on final procedures was continuing. Additionally, signing arrangements were announced.
Trump said a deal could be signed over the weekend, probably in Europe. He added that Vice President JD Vance would attend the signing.

However, Tehran had not publicly confirmed a final decision. Iran said no final decision had been made, while Sky Trump claimed a deal was close, but Tehran signalled otherwise.
CNN reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was surprised by Trump’s social media post suggesting an imminent agreement. An Israeli source said Israel was unaware of any pending agreement or approval.
IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency said Iran’s approval remained likely because Washington had accepted Tehran’s proposed text.
