Singer Katy Perry paused her Mexico concert on August 25 after mishearing fans chanting “¡Mucha ropa!” and asking the crowd whether they were directing an insult at her.
The incident occurred during Perry’s free performance at the Feria Nacional Potosina (FENAPO) in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, as the chant continued from the audience.
Perry initially appeared unsure about what fans were saying and asked, “Are you calling me a ‘whore’?”

The misunderstanding became clear as Perry continued trying to identify the phrase coming from the audience before resuming the performance.
