CUPERTINO, California: Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to debut September 9 with upgraded health hardware and potentially improved hypertension alerts, although Apple has not confirmed the watch or feature.

Apple has confirmed a special event for September 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific time; however, it has not disclosed which products it will unveil.

Current reports point to a new Apple Watch chip and improvements in health and fitness tracking. Bloomberg reporting, cited by Apple-focused publications, indicates that the Series 12 will retain the current general design while receiving mostly internal upgrades.

Meanwhile, DigiTimes has reported a significant expansion of sensor components in Apple’s 2026 watches. However, reporting most directly links the doubled sensor count to the higher-end Apple Watch Ultra 4 rather than confirming it for every Series 12 model.

Apple already offers hypertension notifications on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later. The feature analyses optical heart-sensor data over 30-day periods and warns users when it detects patterns associated with possible hypertension.

However, the watch does not provide conventional systolic and diastolic blood-pressure readings. Instead, Apple advises users who receive an alert to take measurements with a separate blood pressure cuff.

The US Food and Drug Administration cleared Apple’s existing Hypertension Notification Feature under 510(k) filing K250507 on September 11, 2025.

Reports have also pointed to another blood-pressure-related upgrade, but Apple has not publicly detailed what would change.
