Apple will soon launch a new Apple Watch feature that helps detect high blood pressure. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved this tool, and Apple plans to release it next week. This breakthrough will help many people track their heart health at home with ease.

The Apple Watch uses its optical heart sensor to measure how blood vessels react to each heartbeat. It does this over 30 days to find signs of hypertension, a condition that often goes undetected. While it may not catch every case, Apple says the feature could alert about one million users. These alerts will guide people to see a doctor for further checks.

This tool does not require needles or cuffs, so it is easy to use. People worried about their blood pressure can stay proactive about their health. Apple’s update is a big step for wearable technology. It makes monitoring heart health simple for everyone.

Note: The hypertension detection feature is not a diagnostic tool but serves as an early warning system to prompt users to consult healthcare professionals.

The hypertension detection feature will be available on the following Apple Watch models:

  • Apple Watch Series 9
  • Apple Watch Series 10
  • Apple Watch Series 11
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
  • Apple Watch Ultra 3

This ensures that users with recent models, including the premium Ultra series, can access this advanced health-monitoring capability, aiding in hypertension monitoring with Apple Watch.

Apple’s hypertension detection tool will roll out in 150 countries, making it widely accessible to users worldwide. The feature was first showcased during Apple’s September 9 event. This event also featured the introduction of a slimmer iPhone Air and a refreshed iPhone lineup.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke. It often goes undetected until serious complications arise. By integrating this FDA-cleared feature into its smartwatches, Apple reinforces its commitment to health innovation. This aligns with the growing demand for wearable devices that prioritise wellness and help manage Apple Watch hypertension effectively.

While Apple and the FDA have not yet responded to requests for comment, the upcoming launch underscores Apple’s focus on advancing health technology. Users can expect the feature to be available via a software update. This ensures seamless integration into supported Apple Watch models.
