M9 Motorway Accident Near Kathore Kills 13 in Oil Tanker and Bus Collision

The M9 motorway accident near Kathore claimed at least 13 lives after an oil tanker, a passenger bus, and several other vehicles collided, police confirmed on Friday. Several others sustained injuries in the crash.

According to officials, the coach was travelling on the wrong side of the road at the time of the collision. The impact triggered a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident. Authorities said the deceased included women and children, highlighting the severity of the tragedy.

The M9 motorway accident near Kathore caused several passengers to fall from a bridge due to the force of the crash, rescue officials stated. Emergency responders shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims. However, police confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances of the collision.

Meanwhile, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho directed law enforcement personnel to immediately reach the accident site. He ordered that the surrounding area be secured to facilitate rescue efforts and the investigation process.

Authorities are examining whether traffic violations contributed to the crash. The allegation that the bus was travelling on the wrong side of the motorway remains a central focus of the inquiry.

Police have begun collecting evidence and recording statements. Traffic flow in the affected area was managed to prevent further disruption while rescue operations continued.

Fatal road accidents remain a serious concern on major highways. Officials often stress adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices to prevent such tragedies.
