NEW YORK, United States: Zheng Qinwen’s US Open run continued Saturday as she saved a match point and stunned Madison Keys 1-6, 7-6 (7/3), 7-5 to reach the last 16.
Keys led 5-0 in the deciding set and held match point at 5-1. However, Zheng won the final seven games to complete the comeback at Flushing Meadows.
Zheng, a former world No. 4 now ranked 121st after recovering from elbow surgery, had entered the tournament through qualifying. She will face six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek for a place in the quarter-finals.
Swiatek advanced with a 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/3) victory over Maria Bouzkova after saving three set points in the second set.

Anastasia Potapova added another upset by beating 2025 finalist Amanda Anisimova 6-2, 7-5. Potapova reached the US Open fourth round for the first time and will next meet fifth seed Mirra Andreeva.

Coco Gauff kept American hopes alive with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Spain’s Cristina Bucsa after recovering from a 3-1 deficit in the opening set.
In the men’s draw, Alexander Blockx upset fifth seed Flavio Cobolli 6-7 (4/7), 6-3, 6-0, 6-3. Francisco Cerundolo also rallied from two sets down to eliminate ninth seed Taylor Fritz, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
