MOSCOW, Russia: Talks between Putin and US envoys ended after more than three hours Saturday, as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss efforts to end the Ukraine war.
A White House official said the US and Russian sides discussed substantive plans for future negotiations. Further steps are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov described the discussions as constructive and frank. He said the American delegation proposed several possible routes toward a settlement.
However, the Kremlin announced no breakthrough. Ushakov said the Russian leadership remained confident it could achieve its stated objectives in the conflict.

Current media reporting also says no concrete agreement emerged from the Moscow meeting. Putin said before the talks that the situation remained complex but welcomed continued direct contacts.
Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev also participated in the meeting. Witkoff thanked Putin for agreeing to a temporary halt on strikes involving Kyiv and Moscow during the envoys’ diplomatic mission.

The arrangement was limited and did not constitute a broader ceasefire. US President Donald Trump said Friday that Witkoff and Kushner were carrying a proposal aimed at ending the war, but he did not disclose its terms.
The envoys later travelled to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, continuing the US mediation effort.
