Karachi, Sindh: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that a Sindh heatwave may hit several districts from May 25 to 31, with temperatures rising 4°C to 6°C above normal.
The Met Office said a high-pressure system may develop in the upper atmosphere from May 25. The alert comes as Pakistan prepares to observe Eid ul Adha from May 27 to 29.
PMD said Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Dadu could record temperatures between 47°C and 50°C during the period.
Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Ghotki and Naushahro Feroze may also face severe heatwave conditions, according to the advisory.

Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas may see temperatures between 44°C and 47°C. Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro and Sanghar could also touch 47°C.
PMD advised children, women and older people to take precautions during the heatwave. It also urged farmers and growers to protect crops and livestock.

Karachi is likely to remain hot and humid over the next three days. The city’s temperature may reach 36°C today, while May 23 and May 24 are expected to stay between 35°C and 37°C.
PMD also warned that moderate to severe heatwave conditions may affect most parts of Pakistan from May 25 to 31, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
